Kara Mupo

Kara Mupo was a collegiate lacrosse player known for her achievements at Northwestern University. During her time there, she contributed to two NCAA national championships. She also played a role in the team achieving four consecutive Final Four appearances. Mupo served as a team captain during her senior season. Her collegiate career concluded with 186 points, comprising 136 goals and 50 assists. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in human development and psychological services from Northwestern in 2014, and later a master’s degree in sports administration in 2015.

Following her playing career, Mupo moved into coaching. She spent two years as an assistant coach at William & Mary. In 2017, she joined Stony Brook University as an assistant coach. During her tenure at Stony Brook in 2018, the team achieved a 20-win season and was ranked No. 1 nationally. The Stony Brook offense, under her guidance as offensive coordinator, led the country in several categories including points per game (29.28), scoring margin (+10.80), assists per game (11.23), and shot percentage (.547).

In 2018-2019, Mupo became the offensive coordinator for the Stanford women’s lacrosse program. In her first year, Stanford led the Pac-12 in shooting percentage (.431), assists (125), goals per game (13.89), and points per game (20.47), and reached the NCAA Tournament. Kara Mupo also played professionally, being a member of the U.S. Women’s National Team and playing in the Women’s Professional Lacrosse League (WPLL) for the New England Command, where she won the inaugural WPLL Championship and led the league in goals. In 2016, she played for the Philadelphia Force, earning all-star status after leading that league in goals.
