The incredible sportswoman Katie Archibald is an elite racing cyclist, who specialises in endurance track events. She represents Great Britain and Scotland on the international stage, and is a 2x Olympic Champion, a 4x World Champion, and an incredible record-holding 17x European Champion. She also holds a Commonwealth Games Gold for Individual pursuit, as well as the women’s British national record for the individual pursuit. In 2017 she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire for services to cycling.
Born in England, and raised in Scotland, Archibald grew up with a love for sports but didn’t take up cycling seriously until 2011 when she was 17. She was a member of the amateur teams Team Thomsons Cycles, and City of Edinburgh Racing Club, and in 2013 was recruited into British Cycling’s Olympic Development Academy. She turned professional in 2014 when she joined Team Madison-Boot Out Breast Cancer Care, and has since been a member of Team WNT, Wiggle High5, and Ceratizit-WNT Pro Cycling, whom she joined in 2022.
Archibald took part in her first European Championships in 2013, where she won Gold in the Team pursuit. Since then her international medal-winning career has seen her win a staggering 23 more Golds, 12 Silvers, and four Bronzes, including two Olympic Golds for Team pursuit at Rio in 2016, and Madison at the delayed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She also picked up a Silver at Tokyo for Team pursuit.
