Kevin Moran is a highly unique athlete, as the Irishman played at an elite level in two different sports – Gaelic Football and Association Football. In Gaelic Football, Moran played for Dublin and won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship twice. In Association Football, the super talent played for Manchester United and won the FA Cup twice. Moran appeared 71 times for Ireland between 1980 and 1994, featuring at UEFA Euro 1988 in Germany and in the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy. The superstar scored six goals internationally.
After a highly successful career in Gaelic football, Moran went straight to the top in Association football, showing his raw natural ability and sporting talent. He made his senior debut for Manchester United in 1979 against Southampton, and was a regular player in the first team by the time Ron Atkinson was in charge. Moran was known for his bravery and strong aerial ability, even though he did not possess a significant height advantage over other players. After 10 fruitful years with United, Moran left Old Trafford as a 32-year-old, having played his final year and a half under club legend Alex Ferguson. The Irish icon went on to enjoy spells at Sporting Gijon and Blackburn Rovers before retiring.
After hanging up his boots, Moran made a successful career in business. He formed a football agency called Proactive Sports Management. On top of running a successful agency, Moran has been seen as a pundit on Irish television. Moran truly is a master of many different areas, his achievements in multiple sports and in business make him one in a million.
