Kevin Tillie was born on November 2, 1990, in Cagnes-sur-Mer, France. He comes from a prominent athletic family, with both his parents having played volleyball professionally and at the Olympic level. His brothers, Kim and Killian, have also pursued professional basketball careers. Tillie began his collegiate volleyball career at Thompson Rivers University, where in his second year (2009-2011), he ranked second nationally in kills per set and total kills, earning All-Canadian Team honors. He then transferred to the University of California, Irvine, for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, playing a key role in their consecutive NCAA championship victories and earning AVCA All-American honors in both years.
Tillie’s professional career includes a significant move to the Polish PlusLiga in 2015, joining ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle. With this team, he secured the Polish Championship in the 2015–16 and 2016–17 seasons, also winning the national cup in 2016–17. He has played for various clubs globally, including CMC Ravenna (Italy), Arkas İzmir (Turkey), Beijing Volleyball (China), Modena Volley (Italy), Projekt Warsaw (Poland), Top Volley Cisterna (Italy), and Tours VB (France), eventually returning to Projekt Warsaw in 2022. Tillie has achieved significant success with the France national team, making his senior debut at the 2012 World League, where the team finished seventh. He has since been instrumental in France’s two Olympic gold medals at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, an FIVB World League gold in 2015, and an FIVB Nations League gold in 2024, in addition to the European Champion title in 2015. He was awarded the Knight of the Legion of Honour in 2021 for his contributions.
His career highlights include two NCAA National Championships with UC Irvine Anteaters in 2012 and 2013. In club competitions, he has earned a Turkish Championship with Arkas İzmir in 2014–15, two Polish Championships and a Polish Cup with ZAKSA Kędzierzyn-Koźle, a CEV Cup with Tours VB in 2021–22, and a CEV Challenge Cup with Projekt Warsaw in 2023–24. Individually, Tillie was recognized as the Best Receiver at the Polish Cup in 2017. His consistent performance and key contributions have established him as a decorated figure in international volleyball.
