Kirsten Flipkens – often known as Flipper – is a Belgian professional tennis player who started playing tennis at only four years old and has progressed to having a ranking of No. 13 in the world. Flipkens has had an incredible list of sporting achievements, including winning one WTA singles title, the international-level 2012 Tournoi de Quebec, and five doubles WTA titles. The sportswoman has also won 13 singles, as well as two doubles titles, on the ITF Women’s Circuit.
Flipkens began her success as a junior, winning the girls’ doubles title at the 2002 US Open and the singles titles at the 2003 Wimbledon Championships. The successful sportswoman has had an amazing feat at the Wimbledon champions, where in 2013 she reached the semifinal. In that same year, Flipkens was crowned Sportswoman of the Year at the Belgian Sport Awards. These achievements led to Flipkens entering in her first Olympic Games, in Rio De Janeiro, and even made it to the third round in singles. Flipkens has even achieved the Fed Cup Commitment Award in that same year.
Recently, Flipkens has been working on her doubles career – reaching the quarterfinal of the French Open, partnering with Francesca Schiavone, winning her second career-doubles title, partnering with Sania Mirza at Wimbledon and even winning Rosmalen Grass Court Championships alongside Dominica Cibulkova. Flipkens is also a big fan of travel, her dogs and cooking.
