Kyle Sloter

Kyle Joseph Sloter was born on February 7, 1994, in Atlanta, Georgia. He distinguished himself early as a two-sport athlete at Mount Pisgah Christian School in Johns Creek, Georgia. In football, he set numerous school records, accumulating 9,200 total yards, including approximately 6,000 passing yards and 3,000 rushing yards with 87 career touchdowns. His athletic prowess earned him two First-Team All-State selections. Sloter initially committed to Southern Miss for college football, where he was red-shirted in his freshman year (2013) and named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll. A coaching change led him to play as a slot receiver, registering 5 catches for 35 yards and a touchdown in 2013, and 2 catches for 12 yards in 2014. Facing the loss of his scholarship, he transferred to the University of Northern Colorado to pursue playing quarterback.

At Northern Colorado, Sloter spent his first year (2015) in various roles including wide receiver and special teams before becoming the backup quarterback. In his senior season (2016), after the starting quarterback was injured, Sloter took over and delivered a standout performance against Abilene Christian, throwing for 408 yards and 7 touchdowns. He finished the season with 2,656 passing yards, setting a new UNC Division I single-season program record with 29 touchdown passes against 10 interceptions, earning him the Male Athlete of the Year award. Following an undrafted entry into the NFL in 2017, Sloter signed with the Denver Broncos. During the preseason, he completed 31 of 43 passes for 413 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions, achieving a passer rating of 125.4. He subsequently spent time with several NFL teams, including the Minnesota Vikings (two stints), Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Chicago Bears, Las Vegas Raiders, and Jacksonville Jaguars, primarily as an offseason or practice squad member.

Sloter’s career extended to professional spring football leagues. He was selected in the first round of the 2022 USFL draft by the New Orleans Breakers. He achieved significant success, being named Offensive Player of the Week twice, contributing to the Breakers forcing the first overtime in USFL history, and earning a spot on the All-USFL Team in 2022. He finished second in the league in passing yards with 1,798. His New Orleans Breakers jersey was later displayed at the Pro Football Hall of Fame. In 2023, he joined the Arlington Renegades in the XFL, starting in four games before signing with the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL, where he was part of the 2023 USFL Championship winning team.
