Leo Rolly Carnando

Leo Rolly Carnando, born on July 29, 2001, in Klaten Regency, Indonesia, is a professional badminton player affiliated with the Djarum club. His early career highlighted a developing talent, beginning with boys’ doubles titles at the USM Flypower Open, Astec Open Badminton Championships, and Singapore Youth International Series in 2016. He further expanded his junior achievements by securing mixed doubles titles at various national circuit events. In 2017, he continued to achieve success, clinching double titles in U17 boys’ and mixed doubles at the Jaya Raya Indonesia Junior International and additional boys’ and mixed doubles titles at other national tournaments.

Carnando’s career trajectory gained significant momentum in 2018 when he was selected for the Indonesia National training center. That year, he earned a bronze medal with the Indonesian team at the Asian Junior Championships. He secured his first BWF sanctioned tournament titles in boys’ doubles at the India Junior International and Malaysia International Junior Open, both with Daniel Marthin. A significant milestone was achieved in November 2018, when he won a gold medal in mixed doubles at the Markham World Junior Championships with Indah Cahya Sari Jamil, followed by his first senior International titles in both mixed and men’s doubles at the Bangladesh International. He also secured a men’s doubles title at the Turkey International.

The progression continued into 2019 with a runner-up finish at the German Junior and two gold medals at the Asian Junior Championships in boys’ and mixed doubles. Later that year, he won the boys’ doubles title at the Kazan World Junior Championships. Transitioning to the senior level, Carnando focused on men’s doubles. He was part of Indonesia’s winning team at the 2020 Thomas Cup. In 2022, he earned a silver medal at the Badminton Asia Team Championships and a gold medal in men’s doubles at the SEA Games. He celebrated his first World Tour title at the 2022 Singapore Open with Daniel Marthin. In 2023, he and Marthin secured victories at the Indonesia Masters and Thailand Masters and reached the finals of the Hong Kong Open, further solidifying his standing in the sport. In 2025, he earned a bronze medal at the Asian Championships with Bagas Maulana and was a runner-up at the All England Open.
