Thai shuttler Benyapa Aimsaard has been dominating the women’s doubles circuit with her sister Nuntakarn Aimsaard. The Thai sisters enjoyed a breakout season in 2022 landing three BWF World Tour titles, storming to victory in the Vietnam Open, India Open and the Hylo Open, and finished runner-up at the Australia Open and the Korea Open. In 2023 they delighted home fans by clinching the Thailand Masters at the Nimibutr Stadium, and the pair have been praised as excellent role models and the pride of Thailand by the National Olympic Committee President. The siblings are rapidly closing the gap on the world’s best doubles players, and have already climbed to No 9 in the world rankings.
Aimsaard entered the international circuit in 2015 when she was just 13 years old. After finishing as mixed doubles runner-up at the 2017 Lao International Series with partner Setthanan Piyawatcharavijit she competed at her first senior singles international tournament, reaching the finals in the 2017 International Series.
Since then Aimsaard has begun to focus on playing women’s doubles with her sister Nuntakarn, and won her first BWF world tour title in 2022 at the India Open. The sisters are now competing against the best players in the world, but are still having plenty of fun on the court whilst notching up numerous medals, title and trophies and rising up the world rankings.
