Lawrence Michael Sonntag, born on January 7, 1984, first established himself in the technology sector before transitioning into online entertainment. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and pursued his education at Azle High School, graduating in 2001. Subsequently, he attended The University of Texas at Dallas, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science in 2006. Following his graduation, Sonntag spent a year as a Software Engineer at AGRO Data Resource Corporation from May 2006 to August 2007. This early experience in software engineering provided a technical foundation that would later complement his career in digital media.
Sonntag then moved into the online entertainment industry, where he gained recognition for his contributions to Rooster Teeth and Machinima. His roles have encompassed being an actor, voice actor, show and podcast host, content producer for live-action projects, and a gaming journalist. He was particularly prominent as a co-host, content producer, and editor for Rooster Teeth’s west coast divisions, Funhaus and The Know. In these capacities, he participated in gameplays, co-hosted podcasts, engaged in fan Q&As, and reviewed various video games, technology products, television shows, and movies. His ability to provide technical insights led to him being regarded as “the smart one” within his groups. He also maintains a personal YouTube channel where he produces video game content under the name SirLarr.

However, on December 17, 2019, Sonntag announced his departure from Rooster Teeth, marking the end of a significant chapter in his professional life.
