Daniel Marthin

Daniel Marthin, born on July 31, 2001, in Jakarta, Indonesia, has established himself as a prominent figure in the world of badminton. His career began at the Djarum club in 2015, where he quickly focused on doubles play. Early in his junior career, Marthin demonstrated significant promise. In 2016, he secured a U–17 Jakarta Open Junior Championships title, partnering with Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma. He further achieved success in boys’ doubles with Leo Rolly Carnando at the Astec Open Championships and the Singapore Youth International Series. His talent was recognized at the national level when he was selected for the Indonesia National training center in 2019, signifying a turning point in his professional development.

Marthin’s junior career was marked by significant international victories. In 2018, he earned a mixed team bronze medal at the Asian Junior Championships. That same year, he and Leo Rolly Carnando won boys’ doubles titles at the Malaysia and India International Junior tournaments, followed by his first senior International title at the Bangladesh International and the Turkey International. The year 2019 was particularly successful, as he secured gold medals in boys’ doubles at both the Asian and World Junior Championships with Carnando, alongside a mixed team gold at the World Junior Championships. His strong performances earned him the Eddy Choong Most Promising Player of the Year nomination in 2019.

His senior career has seen continued progression and notable achievements. Marthin was part of the Indonesian team that won the 2020 Thomas Cup and later secured a silver medal with the men’s team at the 2024 Thomas & Uber Cup. He has achieved multiple BWF World Tour titles and runner-up finishes. With Leo Rolly Carnando, he won the Singapore Open in 2022, and back-to-back Indonesia Masters and Thailand Masters titles in 2023. They successfully defended their Indonesia Masters title in 2024. Most recently, in 2025, Marthin partnered with Muhammad Shohibul Fikri, and the new pairing achieved runner-up finishes at the Thailand Masters and Swiss Open, demonstrating adaptability and continued competitive prowess at the Super 300 level.
