Alexis Noel “Lexi” Thompson is a widely renowned American professional golfer who is a top international player in women’s golf. She plays on the LPGA tour and was born in Coral Springs, Florida in 1995. She first started to play golf at only 5 years old and her family were keen golfers, both her brothers, Nicholas and Curtis were talented players and she practiced with them a lot. She was home schooled so that she could train for golf.
At the age of only 12 she became the youngest golfer to qualify to compete in the US Women’s Open. She won the 2008 US Girls’ Junior Championship. In 2010 she was part of the USA Curtis Cup team. At just 15 she became a professional, she has since had many significant achievements. At 16 she became the youngest winner of a LPGA tournament as she won the Navistar LPGA Classic. She won the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship at only 19.
More recently in 2017 she won the LPGA Vare Trophy for low scoring average. She has been a member of the USA Solheim Cup team in 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019. She competed at the 2016 Olympics in Rio and has signed sponsorship deals with top brands such as Red Bull and Rolex. She says that golf has “always been in her blood” and continues to improve, owing to her passion for the sport.
