Lionel Gerard Green, known professionally as Lio Rush, was born on November 11, 1994, in Lanham, Maryland. Growing up with gospel singer parents, his childhood home often echoed with music, a passion he later pursued alongside his wrestling career. From a young age, Rush aspired to be a professional wrestler, a dream he began to realize in 2014 after training at the MCW Training Center. His early career saw him performing as “LI Green” and then “Lennon Duffy” before settling on Lio Rush, quickly gaining recognition on the independent circuit.
Rush’s career trajectory is marked by significant achievements across various wrestling promotions. He joined Combat Zone Wrestling (CZW) in 2014, where he held the CZW World Heavyweight Championship once and the CZW Wired Championship twice. His talent also led him to Ring of Honor (ROH), where he won the 2016 Top Prospect Tournament after originally not being signed by the promotion due to limited experience. In 2017, Rush signed with WWE, making appearances on NXT and 205 Live, and later served as the manager for Bobby Lashley on Raw. He became the youngest NXT Cruiserweight Champion in 2019, a title he held for 63 days.
Following his time in WWE, Rush continued to make an impact in the wrestling world, securing the MLW World Middleweight Championship and making appearances for All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and New Japan Pro-Wrestling (NJPW). In 2023, he debuted in Impact Wrestling, where he became the Impact X Division Champion. Beyond wrestling, Rush has a burgeoning music career as a rapper, releasing several singles and two studio albums, “Ever After” and “The Final Match.” He is known for his fast-paced, high-flying wrestling style and his charismatic persona, drawing influence from entertainers like Kevin Hart.
