Lisa Eldridge is one of the world’s best-known makeup artists. Since 2015, she has been the Global Creative Director for Lancôme, L’Oréal’s luxury cosmetics brand. As well as making A-list stars look their best, she has also stepped into the limelight, becoming a New York Times bestselling author with her book, Face Paint: The Story of Makeup. She also hosted the 2021 BBC series, Makeup: A Glamorous History and is familiar to British TV audiences for her many appearances as the resident beauty expert on Channel Four’s Ten Years Younger and as a guest expert on the likes of Lorraine and GMTV. She is also massively popular on social media and has more than 3 million followers and subscribers across her Instagram and YouTube channels.
Born in New Zealand but raised in Liverpool, Eldridge’s love of makeup began when she discovered a box of her mother’s vintage Sixties makeup. She decided to become a makeup artist as a teenager and move to London to study her craft and find her way into the industry — one of her early jobs was working at the Lancôme counter in Harrods. She got an early break when Elle magazine hired her to do Cindy Crawford’s makeup for a shoot, and she went on to live and work in Paris, New York, and Los Angeles, working with the top photographers and fashion names of the 1990s.
In 2003, Eldridge was appointed Creative Director of Boots No7, overseeing a thorough rebrand of the household British name’s signature cosmetics. She has also worked for Chanel for over a decade and has featured on the Business of Fashion’s prestigious Fashion 500 list.
