Karen Lucille Hale, born on June 14, 1989, in Memphis, Tennessee, began her public career in 2003 as a contestant on the Fox reality show ‘American Juniors’, a spin-off of ‘American Idol’. She finished in the top five and briefly joined a musical group of the same name. At age 15, Hale relocated to Los Angeles with aspirations of securing a record deal, but soon began auditioning for acting roles. Her early acting credits included guest appearances on television series such as ‘Drake & Josh’, ‘Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide’, ‘The O.C.’, and ‘How I Met Your Mother’. In 2007, she secured a main cast role as Becca Sommers in the NBC series ‘Bionic Woman’. Her film debut occurred in 2008 with ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2’, where she portrayed Effie Kaligaris. This period established her as an emerging talent in both acting and music.
Hale achieved widespread recognition with her breakthrough role as Aria Montgomery in the Freeform series ‘Pretty Little Liars’, which premiered in 2010 and concluded in 2017.
