Born in Seattle, Washington, to a Brazilian mother and an American father, Maiara Walsh developed an early interest in music and the arts. Her family’s move to São Paulo, Brazil, when she was one year old meant Portuguese became her first language. She returned to Seattle and later moved to Simi Valley, California, at age 11 to pursue an acting career. Her professional journey began in 2005 with a guest appearance on the Disney Channel series *Unfabulous*. In 2007, she secured a main role as Meena Paroom in *Cory in the House*, which paved the way for subsequent significant roles.

Walsh’s career progressed with a notable role as Ana Solis on the sixth season of ABC’s *Desperate Housewives* (2009–2010), gaining her wider recognition. She also appeared as Mandi Weatherly in the TV movie *Mean Girls 2* (2011) and had a recurring role as Sarah in The CW’s *The Vampire Diaries* Season 2 (2010). Her acting credits further expanded with recurring parts in *Switched at Birth* (2012–2017) as Simone Sinclair, *Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.* (2014) as Callie Hannigan, and *The Last Ship* (2018) as Mia Valdez. In 2022, she joined the acclaimed Brazilian series *Reis* as Abigail, relocating to Brazil for the role, and also featured in *Good Trouble* (2022–2024) as Jenna Peréz.

Beyond acting, Walsh has made strides in filmmaking. In 2017, she directed her short film *Young Blood*, which earned her the Best Director award at the Jelly Film Festival in Los Angeles. She has also written multiple television and film scripts, with several currently in development. In 2023, she completed production on her directorial debut for a psychological thriller, a project she co-penned. Her creative pursuits extend to music, having formed a seven-piece jazz band in 2012 and releasing an EP with a Brazilian producer in 2023, demonstrating her diverse artistic capabilities.
