Marcus Foligno

Marcus Foligno is an established professional ice hockey winger, currently serving as an alternate captain for the Minnesota Wild in the National Hockey League (NHL). After being recognized as the best body checker in the Eastern Conference in the OHL Coaches Poll and named to the league’s Second All-Star Team in 2011, Marcus Foligno established a formidable junior career with the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2007 to 2011. During the 2008-09 season, he scored 12 goals and recorded 30 points in 65 games. His performance led to his selection by the Buffalo Sabres as the 104th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Draft.

His strong performance led to a significant career move when he was traded to the Minnesota Wild on June 30, 2017. Demonstrating immediate impact with the Wild, he secured a four-year, $11.5 million contract extension on September 14, 2017, solidifying his role with the team. An established professional ice hockey winger and alternate captain for the Minnesota Wild, Foligno has continued to be a core player. He signed a subsequent three-year, $9.3 million extension with the Wild on January 12, 2021, followed by a four-year, $16 million extension on September 29, 2023, reflecting his consistent contributions and leadership within the franchise.
