Setting the North Carolina State Wolfpack’s all-time sack record in just three seasons (2003-2005), Mario Williams quickly established himself as a formidable force on the football field. This collegiate success led to a pivotal moment in his career when he was selected as the first overall pick by the Houston Texans in the 2006 NFL Draft. Williams wasted no time making an impact, starting all 16 games in his rookie season, where he recorded his first sack and a half against the Miami Dolphins’ quarterback Daunte Culpepper. He built on this foundation, finishing the 2007 season with an impressive 14 sacks and a fumble recovery touchdown, earning his first Pro Bowl selection in 2008 and first-team All-Pro honors by Sporting News the same year.

Williams concluded his distinguished playing career by signing with the Miami Dolphins in 2016, playing one season before his release in February 2017. Beyond his impactful professional achievements on the field, Williams has also made significant contributions off the field. He demonstrated his commitment to community engagement by donating Chevrolet Camaros and Dodge Chargers to the Houston Police Department. Additionally, he launched ‘MariO’s,’ a breakfast cereal designed to benefit children’s cancer charities in Buffalo, showcasing his dedication to philanthropic endeavors.
