Mark Wiens

Mark Wiens was born on February 26, 1986, in Phoenix, Arizona, to Christian missionary parents. His upbringing involved living in various countries, including France, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Kenya. He later attended Arizona State University, graduating in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in global studies. After completing his education, Wiens traveled through South America and subsequently took on a role teaching English in Patagonia before moving to Thailand, where he met his wife, Ying.

Wiens’ career as a food and travel vlogger began in 2009 with the launch of his food blog, Migrationology.com. He developed this platform by documenting his culinary experiences around the world. In 2012, he released an e-book titled “The Eating Thai Food Guide” and decided to pursue blogging and video creation full-time. This marked a significant turning point, leading him to become one of the most recognized food vloggers globally. His work has involved covering diverse food cultures and has been featured by publications such as New York Magazine and CNN.

Throughout his career, Wiens has expanded his ventures beyond blogging and vlogging. In 2019, he co-founded a restaurant in Bangkok called Phed Mark, specializing in phat kaphrao. He also collaborated with bangkokvanguards in 2020 to launch “The Ultimate Bangkok Food Tour.” In 2022, Wiens further ventured into television, hosting the HBO Asia series “Food Affair with Mark Wiens,” which explored Singaporean cuisine. His impactful work gained further recognition in 2024 by hosting National Geographic’s “Epic Food Journeys with Mark Wiens.”
