The fantastic sportsman Masashi Ebinuma is a judoka, who competes in the -66kg and -73kg weight classes. He is a 3x World Champion, an Asian Games Champion, a 3x IJF Grand Slam Champion, a 3x IJF Grand Prix Champion, and a Summer Universiade Champion. He was ranked No.1 in the world for three years, and is also known for being a 4x All-Japan national champion.
Born and raised in Oyama, Japan, Ebinuma started judo at a young age, and by the time he was 16 he had become the 2006 Asian Junior Championships Champion, taking Gold in the -66kg weight class. He took Bronze at the same event in 2008, as well as at the World Juniors Championships and at his first IJF Grand Slam in Tokyo. In 2009 he took Gold at the Summer Universiade, and at both the IJF Grand Slam and the Grand Prix. He went on to claim a further two IJF Grand Prix Golds, and his second IJF Grand Slam Gold, as well as a Silver and three Bronzes. In the World Championships he took Gold in 2011, 2013 and 2014, as well as Bronze at the World Masters. He also took Bronze at the 2012 London Olympics. He took his second Olympic Bronze in Rio 2016, and by 2018 he had moved up to the -73kg weight class. He won a mixed team Gold at the 2018 Asian Games, and a Silver at the 2018 IJF Grand Prix. In 2019 he took Bronze at the World Masters and Silver at the IJF Grand Slam.
