For his exceptional performance, he was honored with the Most Outstanding Player award and named AVCA Player of the Year in 2008. Anderson also earned AVCA Second-Team All-American honors in 2007 and First-Team All-American in 2008, ultimately being recognized as AVCA Co-National Player of the Year. He made his professional debut in 2008, leaving Penn State after his junior year to sign with the Hyundai Capital Skywalkers in the Korean League, before spending two seasons in the Italian league with Volley Callipo and Modena Volley. In 2012, Anderson joined Russian powerhouse Zenit Kazan, where he garnered immense success over six seasons until 2018.
During this period, he secured multiple CEV Champions League titles (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), won the FIVB Club World Championship in 2017, and clinched several Russian Championships (2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), earning the Most Valuable Player title in 2014. Since 2008, Anderson has been a core member of the United States men’s national volleyball team, serving as their leading scorer since 2011. He made his first Olympic appearances in 2012 and 2016, notably earning an Olympic bronze medal at the Rio de Janeiro Games in 2016. His international career continued to flourish with a gold medal at the 2015 World Cup and a bronze medal at the 2018 FIVB World Championship, alongside multiple NORCECA Continental Championships.
