Mauricio Vargas

Mauricio Vargas signed his first professional contract in December 2015 with the Pittsburgh Riverhounds of the United Soccer League (USL), marking a significant milestone in his career. This came after a standout 2015 season with FC Wichita of the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), where he was instrumental in securing the NPSL South Central Conference title in the club’s inaugural season. During his time with FC Wichita, Vargas made 14 appearances, recorded 6 shutouts, and maintained an impressive 0.79 goals against average, attracting interest from Major League Soccer clubs such as Columbus Crew SC, D.C. United, FC Dallas, and Sporting Kansas City.

Since 2022, he has served as the dedicated goalkeeping coach for the Friends Falcons, cultivating new talent and refining their skills. Concurrently, Vargas holds the position of goalkeeping coordinator for FC Wichita, the club where he previously achieved an NPSL conference title. In this dual capacity, he applies his experience from playing at the highest levels of youth international football and professional club soccer, including securing titles, to develop future generations of goalkeepers. His leadership in athlete development and program coordination in American soccer is firmly rooted in a successful professional playing background, emphasizing what makes him a highly marketable asset to any program.
