Maxwell Holt

Maxwell Philip Holt was born on March 12, 1987, in Cincinnati, Ohio. His parents are Kim and Angie Holt. He has two older siblings, Megan and Nick, and a younger brother, Sam, who also plays professional volleyball. Holt played college volleyball at Pennsylvania State University. From 2005 to 2007, he was a member of the U.S. Junior Men’s National Team, participating in the Four Nations Tournament in 2005 and the NORCECA Men’s Junior Continental Championship in 2006. He also competed in the FIVB Volleyball Men’s U21 World Championship, where his team finished seventh. Holt joined the U.S. National Team in 2009, making his debut in the Pan American Cup.

Throughout his career, Holt has earned significant recognition in both club and international competitions. In 2013, he contributed to the U.S. team’s victory at the NORCECA Championship. The following year, in 2014, he secured a gold medal in the FIVB World League. His club career includes achievements such as winning the CEV Challenge Cup with Copra Elior Piacenza in 2012–13 and the CEV Cup with Dynamo Moscow in 2014–15. He continued his success with Azimut Modena, winning the Italian SuperCup in 2016–17 and 2018–19. Most recently, he won the Chinese Championship with Beijing BAIC Motor in 2022–23.

Maxwell Holt is a three-time Olympian, having participated in the Olympic Games in 2016, 2020, and 2024. He has earned two Olympic bronze medals in the men’s team event, at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 and Paris 2024 games. In addition to his Olympic medals, he has also achieved a bronze medal at the 2018 World Championships. Holt has received individual awards, including Best Middle Blocker at the 2013 FIVB World Grand Champions Cup, the 2015 FIVB World League, the 2019 FIVB Nations League, and the 2019 FIVB World Cup. He also holds two gold medals from the FIVB World Cup in 2015 and 2023.
