Michael Grady

Michael Grady was born on October 22, 1996, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He discovered the sport of rowing through his father and later attended Cornell University, graduating in 2019. During his time at Cornell, he was an athlete for Cornell Rowing from August 2015 to June 2019 and participated in the Big Red Leadership Institute from August 2015 to December 2018. His collegiate career laid the foundation for his professional rowing endeavors and Olympic aspirations. Grady is known for his dedication to the sport, admiring Carlos Dinares for his enthusiasm for rowing. Outside of his athletic pursuits, his hobbies include beekeeping and solving Rubik’s Cubes.

Grady’s career in rowing includes multiple international competitions. He competed in the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, where his Men’s Four team placed 5th. He also participated in the World Championships, securing a silver medal in the Men’s Four event in 2023. His consistent performance and commitment to training led to his selection for the 2024 Paris Olympics, marking him as a two-time Olympian.

The pinnacle of Grady’s career to date occurred at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris. He, along with his teammates Liam Corrigan, Justin Best, and Nick Mead, won a gold medal in the coxless men’s four event. This victory was particularly significant as it marked the first time the USA had won gold in this event since 1960. His contributions were acknowledged by USRowing, which named him the 2024 Senior Male Athlete of the Year.
