Michael Oher

Known for his journey chronicled in Michael Lewis’s 2006 New York Times bestseller, ‘The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game,’ and its subsequent Academy Award-winning 2009 film adaptation, Michael Oher built an impactful eight-season career as an NFL offensive tackle. His athletic prowess first emerged at Briarcrest Christian School, where he was recognized as the Division II (2A) Lineman of the Year in 2003 and earned First-team Tennessee All-State honors the same year. Oher continued his collegiate football career at Ole Miss, where he made an immediate impact by starting ten games as a guard in his freshman year and earning first-team freshman All-American honors in 2005, along with First-team SEC All-Freshman. Transitioning to left tackle, he distinguished himself as a two-time First-team All-SEC selection in both 2007 and 2008, culminating in unanimous All-American recognition in 2008.

He immediately signed a five-year contract, becoming a pivotal force on the Ravens’ offensive line, playing primarily as both a right and left tackle. Oher was instrumental in the team’s historic victory in Super Bowl XLVII in 2013, solidifying his status as a champion in professional football. After five successful seasons with the Baltimore Ravens, Oher transitioned to the Tennessee Titans in 2014. The following year, in 2015, he signed with the Carolina Panthers, where he experienced one of his most impactful professional seasons.

As a crucial protector of quarterback Cam Newton’s blind side, Oher played a vital role in the Panthers’ journey to Super Bowl 50 in 2016, marking another significant achievement in his distinguished NFL career.
