Michelle Trachtenberg

Michelle Trachtenberg was born on October 11, 1985, in New York City. She began her acting career at age three, appearing in commercials. By age 10, she was making regular television appearances. Her early work included a recurring role in “The Adventures of Pete & Pete” (1994–1996) as Nona F. Mecklenberg. In 1996, she starred in her first feature film, “Harriet the Spy,” playing the title role. This was followed by a role in the short-lived television series “Meego” (1997), for which she received a Young Artist Award. She also played Penny Brown in the 1999 Disney film “Inspector Gadget.”

Trachtenberg achieved broader recognition with her role as Dawn Summers, the younger sister of the title character, in “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” (2000–2003). This role garnered her another Young Artist Award and three Saturn Award nominations. During this period, she also hosted the Discovery Kids series “Truth or Scare” (2001–2003), earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination. In her late teens and early 20s, she appeared in the film “EuroTrip” (2004) and had a recurring role as Celeste, a pop star, in the HBO series “Six Feet Under” (2004). Continuing her film work, she starred in “Ice Princess” (2005) as Casey Carlyle and took on supporting roles in “Mysterious Skin” (2004) and “Black Christmas” (2006).

A significant career milestone was her role as Georgina Sparks in The CW series “Gossip Girl” (2008–2012), a character she reprised in the 2021 reboot. In 2009, she appeared in the film “17 Again” and on the NBC series “Mercy” (2009–2010). Her later career included roles in television films like “Killing Kennedy” (2013) and “Sister Cities” (2015), as well as the science fiction film “The Scribbler” (2014). She provided the voice for Judy in the adult animated web series “Human Kind Of” (2018) and served as executive producer for “Guidance” (2015–2017) and “Meet, Marry, Murder” (2021). Her final film appearance was as a narrator for the documentary “Spyral” (2024).
