Mick Mulvaney

Mick Mulvaney has transitioned from a career in public service, including significant roles in the U.S. government, to an on-air contributor for major news networks, offering insights on politics and current events. After being elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives in 2006, Mick Mulvaney earned the Freshman Legislator of the Year award that same year for his instrumental work on the Woman’s Ultrasound Right to Know Act. He was subsequently elected to the South Carolina State Senate in 2008, where he was recognized as Legislator of the Year in 2010 for his significant contributions to Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

During his tenure in the South Carolina General Assembly from 2007 to 2011, Mulvaney served on critical committees including Judiciary, Labor/Commerce/Industry, and Medical Affairs. Prior to his legislative service, he practiced law with James, McElroy and Diehl from 1992 to 1997 and gained business experience as a minority shareholder and owner-operator in the Salsarita’s Fresh Cantina restaurant chain. Mulvaney’s federal career began with his election as U.S. Representative for South Carolina’s 5th congressional district in 2010.

Following his extensive career in government, Mulvaney transitioned to a prominent role in media, becoming an on-air contributor for CBS News in 2022. He subsequently joined NewsNation and CNBC as a contributor, where he leverages his deep understanding of public policy and economic affairs to provide insightful analysis on political and current events for a national audience.
