Myra DuBois

Gareth Joyner, known by his stage persona Myra DuBois, is a stand-up comedian and drag performer who originated from Rotherham and later established a career in London. He began performing as Myra DuBois in burlesque clubs and gay bars after moving to London in 2008. Over the years, Myra DuBois has become recognized for seamlessly blending satirical comedy, drag artistry, live singing, and audience interaction, earning a loyal following and accolades within the LGBTQ+ community and beyond. Her early career also involved experiences such as a ‘past life as a bingo caller,’ which has been referenced in her character.

DuBois achieved broader recognition in 2020 as a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent (Series 14). Her television appearances have expanded to include guest spots on ‘The John Bishop Show’ (2015), ‘Big Brother’s Bit on the Side,’ Dom Jolly’s ‘Fool Britannia,’ ‘Richard Osman’s House of Games’ (2023, Series 7 Week 4), ‘Pointless Celebrities’ (BBC1), and ‘The Weakest Link’ (BBC1). In 2022, she served as a mentor on the ITV1 special ‘Queens For The Night.’ Myra DuBois made her feature film debut in the adaptation of ‘Everybody’s Talking About Jamie’ (2021) as herself, appearing as a drag queen at Legs Eleven and a friend of Hugo Battersby / Loco Chanelle. Her theatre work includes playing Lady Von Fistenberg in the ‘Dragatha Christie murder-mystery’ play ‘Death Drop’ (2021) and starring in her solo performance ‘Dead Funny’ at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (2021). She also took on the role of Carabosse in ‘Sleeping Beauty’ (2021–2022), Myra Blunderbore in ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’ (2023-2024), and is cast as the Wicked Stepmother in ‘Cinderella’ (2024-2025).

Myra DuBois’s career progression demonstrates her versatility across various entertainment platforms. She has performed for sold-out crowds at significant venues and festivals, including the Edinburgh Fringe, Hackney Empire, Sydney Opera House, Latitude Festival, Club Kabarett in Melbourne, and the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras. She held a residency at The Royal Vauxhall Tavern and has been a guest performer for the renowned La Clique. In 2025, she is scheduled to make her opera debut in ‘Die Fledermaus’ at The Grange Festival, followed by a UK tour for her new show, ‘Cosmic Empath.’ Her work is frequently praised for its “razor-sharp presence” and “brutally amusing audience reactions,” solidifying her position as a significant figure in comedy and cabaret.
