Myrka Dellanos is a double-Emmy Award-winning journalist, television and radio host, author, activist, and entrepreneur. A Cuban-American born in Pennsylvania, she has won several Hispanic awards and has spent much of her career in the public eye tirelessly advocating for social and humanitarian campaigns. Among the accolades she has received to date are People en Espanol magazine’s Star of the Year, the Hispanic Heritage Council’s Hispanic of the Year, and the Organisation of Ibero-American Journalists’ Person of the Year.
Dellanos studied broadcast journalism at the University of Miami, graduating in 1986. Whilst there, she began working for CBS Radio’s WINZ news station as a writer and producer. Her breakthrough into television came in the early 1990s when she became an anchor for the Univision Network, and most notably for Primer Impacto, a show she worked on for 14 years. She also hosted other shows for the channel, including Lo Mejor de Primer Impacto, En Exclusiva Con Myrka, and Imagenes de Impacto. After leaving Univision, Dellanos worked for the likes of ABC (as a guest host of The View) and CNN. She also became an adjunct professor at the University of Miami. In 2012, she joined Estrella TV, hosting several shows.
Over the years, Dellanos has become a sought-after name to endorse various products and causes. She has appeared in advertising campaigns for Colgate toothpaste, Money Mutual, Rooms to Go, and Old Navy. She has also hosted Hispanic Heritage Month at the White House, been recruited by a US President as a “Freedom Fighter” to promote charitable giving, and worked as a goodwill ambassador for the UN.
