Nafia Kus

Nafia Kus Aydin was born on February 20, 1995, in Adana, Turkey. She began taekwondo at the age of 8, a path encouraged by a local coach who noticed her physique. Kus pursued her education concurrently, studying Physical Education and Sports at Çukurova University in Adana. Her early career saw her achieve significant success, including a silver medal at the 2013 Islamic Solidarity Games and another silver at the 2014 World University Taekwondo Championships. These formative years laid the groundwork for her progression in competitive taekwondo.

Kus continued to build her professional career with consistent podium finishes in various international tournaments. She secured gold medals at European Junior Championships in 2013 and 2015, and multiple gold medals at open tournaments across Europe. A turning point in her career was earning a bronze medal at the 2015 World Taekwondo Championships in Chelyabinsk, followed by a gold medal at the 2018 European Taekwondo Championships in Kazan. These achievements demonstrated her increasing skill and competitiveness on the global stage.

Her dedication culminated in a gold medal at the 2023 World Taekwondo Championships in Baku, where she became a world champion in the +73 kg category. Further solidifying her status, Kus secured an Olympic bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the women’s +67kg event, marking a significant milestone in her athletic journey. Throughout her career, she has consistently represented Turkey in various high-profile competitions, showcasing her capabilities in taekwondo.
