About

Nicholas A. Ferguson, born on November 27, 1974, in Miami, Florida, established a notable career in American football as a safety. After playing college football at Morris Brown and Georgia Tech, he began his professional journey in 1996 as an undrafted free agent, first with the Cincinnati Bengals. His early career included stints with CFL teams like the Saskatchewan Roughriders and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, and NFL Europe’s Rhein Fire, gaining diverse experience across various leagues before solidifying his presence in the NFL. Ferguson eventually played for the Chicago Bears, Buffalo Bills, and New York Jets over his initial years in the NFL.

Ferguson’s career highlights include his tenure with the Denver Broncos from 2003 to 2007, where he started 44 games at safety and recorded six interceptions. A significant moment occurred in the 2006 AFC Divisional Playoffs when his pressure on Tom Brady led to a crucial 100-yard interception by Champ Bailey. Following his time with the Broncos, he joined the Houston Texans in 2008, playing two seasons before concluding his NFL career. Over a 10-year NFL career, Ferguson accumulated 420 total tackles, 1.0 sack, 6 forced fumbles, 6 fumble recoveries, and 7 interceptions across 132 regular season games.

After retiring from professional football, Ferguson transitioned into media and coaching. He served as an assistant coach for the San Francisco 49ers in 2018, building upon coaching internships with the 49ers, Broncos, Seattle Seahawks, and Texans. Concurrently, he became a recognized voice in sports talk radio, hosting shows on platforms such as TuneIn, NBC Sports Radio, WQXI, KFWB, and Voice of America. He also contributed written content to The Players’ Tribune and hosted “The Safety Blitz” on Sports Radio 104.3 The Fan in Denver, further cementing his role as an analyst and commentator.
