Nirmal Purja MBE, a mountaineer with a military background, is recognized for his record-setting ascents of the world’s highest peaks, providing a compelling narrative for brands seeking to associate with determination and global achievement. After becoming the first Gurkha accepted into the Royal Navy’s elite Special Boat Service (SBS) in 2009, Nirmal Purja MBE transitioned from a distinguished military career to high-altitude mountaineering. He holds a postgraduate diploma in security management from Loughborough University. Purja’s climbing journey began with Lobuche East in 2012, followed by his first eight-thousander, Dhaulagiri, on May 18, 2014.
Purja established the Nimsdai Foundation, supporting mountain communities through education, emergency aid, and environmental initiatives like the Big Mountain Clean Up. In May 2022, he set a new speed record for summitting Kangchenjunga, Mount Everest, and Lhotse consecutively without supplementary oxygen, and in 2023, received an honorary degree from Loughborough University. In October 2024, Purja broke world records for the fastest ascents of all 14 eight-thousander peaks both with and without supplementary oxygen, becoming the first person to summit all 14 peaks and the Seven Summits with and without supplementary oxygen. He is slated to achieve his 50th successful 8,000m peak summit on Nanga Parbat in July 2025 and has announced the ‘Hat-Trick Challenge’ for 2025.
