Pj Sin Suela

Pedro-Juan Vazquez Bragan, known professionally as Pj Sin Suela, was born on August 5, 1989, in The Bronx, New York, and raised in Ponce, Puerto Rico. His musical journey began early, influenced by his mother’s guitar playing and his high school reputation for rapping during lunch. He pursued higher education, earning a BS in Science from Villanova University, and later an MD degree from Universidad Central del Caribe in 2015. After completing his medical studies, he made the decision to pivot his career towards music.

Pj Sin Suela’s music career quickly gained momentum, marked by his socially conscious lyrics. In August 2018, his collaboration with Bad Bunny and Ñejo on the single “Cual Es Tu Plan?” achieved commercial success, reaching number 13 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and number 17 on the Billboard Latin Digital Song Sales chart. He continued to gain recognition through collaborations, opening for Residente in September 2018, and featuring on Lin-Manuel Miranda’s song “A Forgotten Spot” with other Puerto Rican artists in the same month. His commitment to social causes was further exemplified when he provided medical assistance to Puerto Ricans following Hurricane Maria in 2017 and actively participated in protests demanding the resignation of Governor Ricardo Rosselló in July 2019.

In 2020, Pj Sin Suela returned to the medical field during the COVID-19 pandemic, working at Hospital San Cristóbal in Ponce, balancing his artistic pursuits with his medical background. His album ‘Toda Época Tiene Su Encanto’ released in 2024, received critical acclaim, achieving a spot on Rolling Stone’s ’50 Best Latin Albums of 2024′. He made history on May 1, 2025, by becoming the first artist to perform on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts series with an ASL interpreter. His discography includes ‘Letra Pa’ tu Coco’ (2015), ‘De Vuelta a Casa’ (2021), ‘Chinchorreo Vol.1’ (2023), and ‘Toda Época Tiene Su Encanto’ (2024). Pj Sin Suela draws inspiration from artists such as Vico C, OutKast, and Calle 13, and his music often addresses social and political themes, aiming to effect positive social change.
