Rashed Al-Majed is a Saudi music artist recognized for his extensive discography and contributions to Arabic music, and for his business ventures in the music industry. After releasing his debut public album, ‘Aah Ya Qalbi’ (Oh My Heart), in late 1984, Rashed Al-Majed rapidly established himself as a prominent voice in Arabic music. This five-song album, co-produced with Hamad Al-Hamad, featured ‘Al-Barha’ as the opening theme for the show ‘Nimr Bin Idwan,’ building on his early success with ‘Hilwa Ya Al Bahrainiya’ airing on Bahrain TV. He followed this with his second album, ‘Lee Bint Aam,’ in 1986, whose title track achieved significant popularity across the Arab States of the Persian Gulf.
Rashed Al-Majed’s significant contributions to Arabic music were globally recognized when he received the MTV Europe Music Award for Best Arabia Act in 2007. He further demonstrated his collaborative spirit with ‘Ash Salman,’ featuring Abdul Majeed Abdullah, in 2015. Beyond his prolific musical career, Al-Majed holds substantial business interests, including ownership of the Art Jazeera channel and a 50% stake in Platinum Records, a joint venture with MBC Group, solidifying his standing as both a celebrated artist and an influential music industry executive.
