Robyn Diamonds is arguably Northern Ireland’s foremost drag performer. With almost a decade of performing experience under her belt, she came to the wider public’s attention when she reached the semifinal of Ireland’s Got Talent in 2019. She has performed all over the country and currently hosts a weekly a show at Derry’s only LGBT venue, Envy. She has also performed in productions of musicals such as Hairspray and is constantly building her reputation as a wonderful all-round entertainer.
Diamonds (real name Aaron Deery) has been performing as a drag queen since 2013, performing as part of the local Foyle’s Follies troupe. In 2019, she appeared on the second series Ireland’s Got Talent, wowing the crowd and the assembled judges (Louis Walsh, Denise Van Outen, Jason Byrne, and Ru Paul’s Drag Race’s Michelle Visage) with her wondrous Abba medley. She advanced to the semifinal, despite the grimly inevitable social media trolling that followed her appearances. However, having necessarily developed a thick skin as a drag performer in a traditionally socially conservative country, she bravely spoke out in the press, declaring that no keyboard warriors were going to keep her from doing what she does best.
With her positive attitude and hugely entertaining act, Robyn Diamonds has established herself beyond all doubt as one of Ireland’s best drag queens.
