Ron James

Ron James received a Genie Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor in 1989 for his role in the film ‘Something About Love.’ Building on his comedic foundation honed with The Second City troupe in the 1980s, James then spent three years in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. During this time, he notably starred as Bucky Fergus in Ron Howard’s Imagine TV syndicated late-night series, ‘My Talk Show,’ which ran from 1990 to 1991. He also secured guest appearances in popular shows like ‘Get A Life’ and ‘Wings,’ in addition to a role in the 1993 film ‘Ernest Rides Again.’ Returning to Canada in 1993, James channeled his experiences into the acclaimed 1994 stage show ‘Up & Down in Shaky Town: One Man’s Journey through the California Dream,’ which was subsequently broadcast as a special on The Comedy Network. Inspired by Scottish comedian Billy Connolly, James then transitioned his focus to stand-up comedy, where his career would flourish.
