Former Football quarterback Ron Jaworski is a veteran of the NFL, a renowned sports broadcaster, and a successful businessman. He is a familiar face on ESPN and the author of the book The Games That Changed the Game.
A talented athlete at several sports from an early age, Jaworski turned down the offer of a professional baseball contract from the St. Louis Cardinals in order to attend Youngstown State University. Here he excelled on the football field, and was later selected for the all-star Senior Bowl. In 1973, he was drafted to the Los Angeles Rams, beginning his NFL career, before being traded to the Philadelphia Eagles. Jaworski made a huge impact at the up-and-coming team, helping them return to the playoffs after 17 years, and enjoying a standout season in 1980 where he earned a string of accolades including NFC Player of the Year. After stints with the Miami Dolphins and Kansas City Chiefs, Jaworski completed his career, having broken the league’s record for the most consecutive starts by a quarterback and the Eagles’ record for the most regular season touchdowns.
Since retiring, Jaworski has worked extensively as a broadcaster, including as an NFL analyst with ESPN, and has been nominated for an Emmy. He is the owner of two golf clubs, is the CEO of Ron Jaworski Golf Management, and held several interests in the Arena Football League (AFL), in which he served as Chairman of the Executive Committee and was a co-owner and team president of Philadelphia Soul. He has been inducted into the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame, the Philadelphia Eagles Honor Roll, and the National Polish-American Hall of Fame, and received a medal from Pope John Paul II during the Pope’s 1979 visit to Philadelphia.
