Ruthie Henshall

Ruthie Henshall began her extensive professional stage career in 1986, quickly making her West End debut in Cats in 1987. During her tenure in Cats, she performed a variety of roles including Jemima, Demeter, Jellylorum, Griddlebone, and Grizabella. She further established her presence in London theatre by joining the cast of Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane, in 1988, and originating the role of Aphra in Children of Eden in 1991. Her early work also included performing in Shakespeare and Molière plays at the Chichester Festival Theatre in 1989, as well as a touring production of A Chorus Line as Maggie in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Henshall made her acclaimed Broadway debut in 1999 as Velma Kelly in Chicago, and further appeared in Putting It Together and The Vagina Monologues off-Broadway. Demonstrating consistent demand and versatility, Henshall reprised her iconic role as Roxie Hart in Chicago on Broadway in 2010. From 2014 to 2016, she captivated audiences as Mrs. Wilkinson in the West End production of Billy Elliot the Musical.

with Daniel Bowling in 2012. Most recently, Henshall garnered critical praise for her portrayal of Fosca in the revival of Passion at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester in 2022. Looking ahead, she is slated to join the West End revival of Cabaret as Fräulein Schneider in 2025, continuing her legacy as a leading force in musical theatre.
