Sam Mikulak

Sam Mikulak, a decorated artistic gymnast with multiple national titles and Olympic appearances, has transitioned into a gymnastics coaching role. After securing the junior national all-around title at the 2010 U.S. A standout from a young age, he also captured all-around, floor exercise, and vault titles at the 2010 Junior Olympic Nationals. In 2012, Mikulak made history as the first male gymnast from the University of Michigan to qualify for the Olympics.

He continued this streak with a fifth title in 2018 and a sixth in 2019. Internationally, he clinched two gold medals at the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto for the team and all-around events, adding two bronze medals for floor and parallel bars. He also contributed to a bronze medal for the U.S. team at the 2014 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships.

After retiring from competitive gymnastics on August 9, 2021, Mikulak transitioned into coaching. In 2023, he joined EVO Gymnastics as a coach, where he notably coached pommel horse specialist Stephen Nedoroscik to secure two bronze medals at the 2024 Summer Olympics. Mikulak also leverages his platform to speak publicly about his experiences with mental health as an athlete, offering valuable insights into the pressures faced during Olympic cycles.
