Shangela

Shangela, an accomplished drag queen and television personality, has built a notable career across various entertainment mediums, showcasing versatility and a significant impact on popular culture. After being crowned California Entertainer of the Year in 2010, Shangela gained widespread recognition through her initial appearances on RuPaul’s Drag Race. Her drag persona first emerged in January 2009, quickly leading to regular bookings after a charity event in Los Angeles. She was featured in season two of Drag Race (2010) and returned for season three (2011), placing sixth.

She solidified her fan-favorite status by returning for the third season of RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars in 2018, finishing in a joint-third/fourth place, and winning the RuPaul’s Drag Race Holi-slay Spectacular later that year. Beyond acting, Shangela also served as a commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest 2018 for Logo TV. In 2018, Shangela garnered international acclaim as a Drag Bar Emcee in the Oscar-winning film ‘A Star Is Born,’ starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper. Representing the film at the 91st Academy Awards in 2019, she made history as the first drag queen to walk the Oscars red carpet in full drag.

Committed to social advocacy, she has partnered with Gilead Sciences and Actors Fund of America for initiatives such as ‘Feed the Queens’ in 2020, supporting AIDS awareness and activism.
