Journalist and TV presenter Stephanie McGovern is best recognised for her high profile presenting credits which include Watchdog and BBC Breakfast, the former of which she was the lead business presenter for many years. She has presented shows with financial advice such as Radio 5’s Wake Up to Money, CBBC’s Pocket Money Pitch and BBC One’s Shop Well for Less.
After a successful work experience placement at The BBC for the popular science and technology news programme, Tomorrow’s World, McGovern became employed as a researcher in current affairs until securing a position as the daily financial news’ head producer on Radio 4’s Today programme. McGovern’s Talent’s didn’t go unnoticed and she was appointed the main producer of business news on the 1pm, 6pm and was 10pm BBC news.
In 2016 McGovern joined the popular consumer investigative journalism programme Watchdog and also presented Can I have a Payrise? with James O’Brien. She has been invited on Have I Got News for You as both an panellist and host. After almost a decade at BBC Breakfast, McGovern left the show in late 2019 to join competitor Channel 4. She will be hosting her brand new show entitled The Steph Show in spring 2020 at the channel’s new base in Leeds.
