Svetlana Osipova

Svetlana Osipova was born on May 3, 2000, in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. She embarked on her taekwondo career at a young age, showcasing her talent in various youth tournaments. In 2015, she secured a silver medal at the Kazakhstan Open, followed by another silver at the Turkish Open and gold medals at the Fujairah Open and Dutch Open in 2016 in the youth categories. Her determination and consistent performance quickly positioned her as a notable athlete within the sport.

Her senior career commenced with a silver medal at the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, in 2017, competing in the 73kg category. The following year, 2018, marked a significant milestone as she earned a bronze medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, in the +67kg category. Demonstrating her commitment to excellence, Osipova achieved a gold medal at the World Military Games in Wuhan, China, in 2019, competing in the over 78kg weight division. She further qualified for the 2020 Summer Olympics through the Asian continent Taekwondo License Tournament in Amman, Jordan.

Osipova made her Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics, competing in the +67kg category. Her career saw a major breakthrough in 2022 when she became a World Champion, winning the gold medal in the women’s +73kg event at the World Taekwondo Championships in Guadalajara, Mexico. This success was followed by a silver medal at the 2023 World Taekwondo Championship in Baku, Azerbaijan, and a bronze medal at the 2023 Summer Asian Games in Hangzhou, China. In 2024, she continued to accumulate accolades, earning a bronze medal at the Asian Championships in Da Nang, Vietnam, and a silver medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the +67kg category, further solidifying her status as a top-tier taekwondo athlete.
