Tania Cagnotto first distinguished herself on the international stage in 2004, securing a European gold medal in the 10-meter platform event at the European Aquatics Championships in Madrid, where she also earned a bronze in the 3-meter springboard. She swiftly made history as the first Italian female diver to win a medal at a World Championship, claiming a bronze in the 3-meter springboard at the 2005 World Aquatics Championships. Her early career also saw her capture another European Aquatics Championships gold in the 10-meter platform in 2008, followed by two medals at the 2009 World Aquatics Championships: a silver in the 3-meter synchro and a bronze in the 3-meter springboard. Cagnotto consistently dominated European and World competitions throughout the early 2010s.
A five-time Olympian, Cagnotto delivered a career-defining performance at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, securing a silver medal in the 3-meter synchro alongside Francesca Dallapè and a bronze medal in the women’s 3-meter springboard. Prior to the Olympics, she had already claimed three more European Aquatics Championships gold medals in 2016 (1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard, and 3-meter synchro) and was again honored as Italian Sportswoman of the Year. Following her retirement from competitive diving after the 2017 Torino competition, Cagnotto transitioned into coaching and mentorship, leveraging her vast experience to guide the next generation of athletes. Her enduring impact on Italian sport was officially recognized in 2023 when she was inducted into the Walk of Fame of Italian Sport, celebrating a career marked by numerous Olympic, World, and European medals.
