Tolga Safer

Tolga Safer was born in Stepney, London, England, UK, on June 26, 1982. His parents are of Turkish Cypriot descent. Safer began his acting career at age 7, participating in school plays and attending classes at the Sylvia Young Theatre School. His early career included appearances in various TV commercials for brands such as Pepsi, Korres, and The Red Cross, with one Red Cross commercial directed by Peter Webber. He also secured roles in television episodes of the BBC series ‘Casualty’ and ‘Doctors’.

Safer’s film career began with the British independent movie ‘Culture Menace’ in 2004. A significant turning point in his career arrived in 2005 when he was cast in ‘Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire’ as Karkaroff’s Aide, a role specifically created for him after a successful audition for Viktor Krum. He continued to build his film credits with roles such as Sef in ‘Sugarhouse’ (2007) alongside Andy Serkis and Ashley Walters, and Aziz in ‘Shoot on Sight’ (2007). In 2017, Safer featured as Kamil, Sharif’s Assistant, in the CBS Films thriller ‘American Assassin’, appearing alongside Dylan O’Brien.

His career also extends to theatre, with performances in notable plays. He performed in ‘Bintou’ in 2002 and ‘Venezuela’ in 2003 at the Arcola Theatre. In 2005, he took on the role of Brother Kazi in ‘Prayer Room’ at the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, and in 2006, he appeared at The Royal National Theatre in ‘Invisible Mountains’ as Taylan. More recently, he was seen as Kurya in 5 episodes of the TV series ‘Vikings: Valhalla’ in 2023, demonstrating his continued presence in prominent screen productions.
