About

Milton Pouha “Tony” Finau was born on September 14, 1989, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He turned professional at the age of 17 in 2007, foregoing college scholarship offers in basketball to pursue golf. Finau honed his skills on various mini-tours, including the Gateway Tour, NGA Hooters Tour, and National Pro Tour, competing alongside his brother Gipper on the Golf Channel’s “The Big Break” in 2009, where he finished second on “Big Break Disney Golf.” His professional ascent included playing on the PGA Tour Canada in 2013, making seven cuts in eight starts. He secured his Web.com Tour card for 2014 by finishing T-3 at the 2013 Web.com Tour qualifying school. In August 2014, Finau claimed his first professional title at the Stonebrae Classic, leading to his PGA Tour card for the 2014–15 season, finishing 8th in the regular season and 12th in the Web.com Tour Finals.

Finau achieved his maiden PGA Tour victory in March 2016 at the Puerto Rico Open, winning in a sudden-death playoff against Steve Marino. The victory propelled him into the top 25 of the FedEx Cup standings. He consistently demonstrated strong performances, highlighted by his 2018 Masters appearance where he finished T10 despite an ankle injury, and a 5th place finish at the U.S. Open in June 2018. The 2017–18 PGA Tour season saw him earn over $5.6 million with 11 top-10 finishes, including second-place finishes at the Safeway Open, The Northern Trust, and T2 at the Genesis Open. He was also a captain’s pick for the 2018 Ryder Cup and has represented the U.S. in the Presidents Cup multiple times.

His career saw a significant resurgence in the 2020–21 season, culminating in a playoff victory at The Northern Trust in August 2021, ending a five-year win drought. The 2021–22 season brought further success with back-to-back victories at the 3M Open and the Rocket Mortgage Classic in July 2022. He continued his winning streak in the 2022–23 season, securing the Cadence Bank Houston Open in November 2022 and the Mexico Open in April 2023, bringing his total PGA Tour wins to six. Beyond his golf career, Finau founded the Tony Finau Foundation, dedicated to empowering youth and families through initiatives focused on education, healthcare, and recreation within their communities.
