Tony T

Neal Antone Dyer, known professionally as Tony T., was born on March 29, 1971, in London, England. Of Jamaican origin, he later moved to Brooklyn, where he began his career as a DJ. In 1985, he relocated to Germany and became a resident DJ at the Gaslight club, marking the start of his musical journey. His early career saw him involved in various projects under the name Beat System, with initial releases in Germany in the late 1980s. The early 1990s brought singles like “Dance Romance” and “Stay with Me.” A significant step was taken with the release of “Fresh,” a cover of Kool & The Gang’s song, which charted in Germany. He followed this with a cover of Jimmy Cliff’s “Reggae Night.” The Beat System project released its sole album, “Refreshiator,” before concluding.

In 2008, Tony T. co-founded the German dance project R.I.O. with Yann Pfeifer (Yanou) and Manuel Reuter (DJ Manian). As the frontman, he contributed to a series of hits in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, including “Shine On,” “When the Sun Comes Down,” “Hot Girl,” “Like I Love You,” and “Miss Sunshine.” A significant milestone for R.I.O. was the release of “Turn This Club Around” in 2011, featuring U-Jean, which achieved international success, reaching number 3 in the German Singles Chart and topping the Swiss Schweizer Hitparade chart. This track was certified gold in both countries. The accompanying album, “Turn This Club Around,” also featured the successful single “Animal.

Tony T. departed from R.I.O. in 2012 to pursue a solo career, releasing his first solo track, “Way to Rio.” He collaborated with Mike Candys and Evelyn on “Everybody” and with Darius & Finlay on “Phenomenon.” Other collaborations include “No Games” with Soulwash, “Want U Now” with Ardian Bujupi in 2013, and “Beautiful Life” with Sasha Lopez and Big Ali. In May 2013, he co-founded DNGRS Crew with rappers Carlprit and Marlon B., releasing the single “Dangerous” on Kontor Records. In 2022, he partnered with Iraj for a cover of “Truth Hurts.”
