Born on December 8, 1983, in Baltimore, Maryland, Utkarsh Ambudkar, also known by his stage name UTK the INC, grew up in Gaithersburg, Maryland. His parents, research scientists who emigrated from India in the 1980s, fostered his early interest in performing. He honed his comedic acting skills at Thomas S. Wootton High School in Rockville, Maryland, and later earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree from the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University in 2004. These formative experiences laid the groundwork for a diverse career in entertainment.
Ambudkar’s career gained significant traction with roles in successful films and television series. He appeared as Donald in “Pitch Perfect” (2012), Rin in “Blindspotting” (2018), and Mouser in “Free Guy” (2021). On television, he has been recognized for his work in “The Mindy Project,” “Never Have I Ever,” and currently stars as Jay Arondekar in the CBS supernatural sitcom “Ghosts” (2021-present). His musical talents are evident through his involvement with the improvisational hip-hop group Freestyle Love Supreme, with whom he made his Broadway debut in 2019, performing under his stage name UTK the INC.
Beyond acting and rapping, Ambudkar has also contributed as a writer and producer. He wrote and produced the film “World’s Best” (2023) and has upcoming producing roles in “There She Goes” and “Patel.” His filmography includes a variety of genres, from animated features like “The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild” (2022) to dramatic television series such as “The Dropout” (2022).
