William George Jacks was born on November 21, 1998, in Chertsey, Surrey, England. His cricket career began with significant promise, featuring in the England squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup, where he played all six matches and captained the final one. He made his List A debut in May 2018 for Surrey against Somerset in the Royal London One-Day Cup, quickly demonstrating his capabilities by scoring a match-winning 121 runs against Gloucestershire in his third game. His first-class debut followed in June 2018 for Surrey in the County Championship, and his Twenty20 debut for Surrey in the T20 Blast occurred in July 2018. Jacks was a member of the Surrey team that won the 2018 County Championship.

Jacks continued to build his domestic career, notably scoring an unofficial T10 century in 25 balls against Lancashire in a pre-season match in 2019, which included six sixes in one over. In June 2021, he achieved English cricket’s third fastest Twenty20 fifty, off 15 balls, during a match against Middlesex. He was bought by the Oval Invincibles for The Hundred’s 2022 season, where he scored a record-breaking 108 runs in 48 balls in August 2022. He was part of the Surrey team that secured the 2022 County Championship and the Oval Invincibles team that won the 2023 season of The Hundred.

His progression to international cricket began with being named in England’s 55-man training group during the COVID-19 pandemic in May 2020. He was called into England’s ODI squad in July 2021 and made his T20I debut in September 2022 against Pakistan. His Test debut was also against Pakistan in December 2022, and his ODI debut followed in March 2023 against Bangladesh. In December 2022, Royal Challengers Bangalore acquired him for the 2023 Indian Premier League, although he missed the season due to injury. He made his IPL debut in 2024 and scored an unbeaten century in 41 balls against Gujarat Titans, ranking as the fifth-fastest century in IPL history. In May 2024, he was named in England’s squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
