Born on January 28, 2001, in Beijing, China, Yiling Song began her professional climbing career in 2016. She quickly established herself as a formidable talent in the speed climbing discipline. Her early career saw her achieving significant results, including a 3rd place in speed at the Asian Youth Championship in Tehran, Iran, in 2016. The following year, 2017, marked further progress with a 2nd place in speed at the Asian Continental Championships in Tehran, and notably, a 1st place in speed at the Asian Youth Championships in Singapore.
Song’s career continued to ascend in 2018 and 2019. In 2018, she secured a 2nd place in speed at the Asian Championships in Kurayoshi, Japan. The year 2019 was particularly notable, as she achieved multiple 1st place finishes in speed at various IFSC Climbing Worldcups, including in Chamonix, France, and Chongqing, China. During this period, she also set a Women’s Speed Climbing World Record of 7.101 seconds. Her consistent high-level performance led her to compete in the combined event at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, held in 2021, where she placed 12th among 20 competitors.
Throughout her career, Yiling Song has consistently demonstrated her abilities across multiple international climbing events. Her achievements include numerous podium finishes and contributions to the sport of speed climbing. She has been active since 2016 and represents the Chinese Mountaineering Association, competing as a professional climber at an international level.
