The independent band Men I Trust first captivated audiences with the release of their self-titled debut album in 2014, quickly following up with Headroom in 2015. In March 2016, Emmanuelle Proulx joined as lead vocalist and guitarist, solidifying the core lineup of Jessy Caron, Dragos Chiriac, and Proulx. Early on, Men I Trust established a significant presence within the indie music scene, performing at notable Canadian festivals such as the Montreal Jazz Festival, Quebec City Summer Festival, and M for Montreal. Their international reach expanded with a China tour in October-November 2016.
By 2019, they graced major global stages, including appearances at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in April and Lollapalooza in August, preceding the September 2019 release of their album Oncle Jazz. Oncle Jazz continued Men I Trust’s trajectory of critical acclaim, earning a long-listing for the prestigious 2020 Polaris Music Prize. Maintaining their independent approach, the band released Forever Live Sessions in 2020 and were featured in an NPR Tiny Desk (Home) Concert in June 2021. August 2021 saw the release of their Untourable Album, a project conceived during the pandemic; despite its title, the band launched a successful Untourable Tour across North America from September to November 2021.
Equus Asinus has already received early recognition, earning a long-listing for the 2025 Polaris Music Prize, underscoring their consistent artistic innovation and impact.
