Alex Foxen

William Alex Foxen was born on February 1, 1991, in Cold Spring Harbor, New York. In his early life, Foxen played tight end for the Boston College Eagles. His poker career began with an early win in a World Series of Poker Circuit event in New Orleans in 2012 at the age of 21. However, he stated that he did not seriously pursue poker until he was 23, following his university graduation. During this period, Foxen initially played online poker for a couple of years before transitioning to live poker tournaments in 2016, where he started with buy-ins ranging from $200 to $500.

Foxen’s career progression saw a notable turning point in December 2017 when he secured a second-place finish in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic on the World Poker Tour, earning over $1.1 million. The following year, 2018, was significant for Foxen, as he claimed the Global Poker Index (GPI) Player of the Year title, accumulating over $6.6 million in tournament winnings. This achievement included 24 recorded cashes, 18 final table appearances, and five titles, with his largest cash prize that year being $2.16 million for a runner-up finish in the $300,000 Super High Roller Bowl V. He then topped this by winning the Season XVIII WPT Five Diamond World Poker Classic in 2019, earning $1.69 million.

His persistence at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) culminated in his first WSOP bracelet in June 2022, where he won the $250,000 Super High Roller, taking home a career-high $4,563,700. He later added two more bracelets, including a $3,850,000 win at the $100,000 Triton Main Event at the 2024 WSOP Paradise, bringing his total live tournament earnings to over $44 million as of March 2025. Foxen is married to fellow professional poker player Kristen Foxen and continues to be a prominent figure in high-stakes poker.
